2017.04.28. 13:54 |
Get an insight how the U16 women see their first ever major international tournament. There are some who believe there would be need for more events like the first ever European Cup for this age group, hosted by the hungarian Ice Hockey Federation. New experiences and quality ice hockey - for players and coaching staff as well.

Germany-Austria 2-1

Florian Neumayer, Head Coach (GER)

I think we were the better team tonight, but I'm not completely happy with our game, we didn't skate enough, we didn't work enough and didn't always keep our positions. Despite these, I think we were still the better team and we deserved the win.

Franziska Klinger, Team Captain (GER)

It feels good to have the first win of the tournament, but I feel like we can do more, we have more power and we should show this at the following games. I'm stil very happy about winning against Austria tonight. In a tactical way, we did pretty well but we can do a bit better in this area, too. The coaches showed us the tactics before the game and at times we did well, at times not so good.

Jozef Hosmaj, Head Coach (AUT)

We are obviously not happy with the result, but I must say we are really proud of the girls. We did a great job, we had a tight game till the last second, we were fighting for earning a point or to win. We are really happy about the attitude. It was a great start, it was fine. We will help the team to play better games in the next days. Next game we will face Russia, a very tough team, but we are happy to play against them, so we can show them how we can play our hockey.

Katharina Heuberger, Team Captain (AUT)

It was a good game, we played very hard. I just love this team because we fight together. We are one, we play as a team. It was a good game, we scored one goal, but at the end we lost. Next game we will fight till the last second, we will come back stronger.

Selma Luggin. Goalie (AUT)

It was fine, I did my best and the team tried to help me, but unfortunetly we lost. We were fighting as a team till the end. Tomorrow we will relax and prepare for the next game to come back stronger. The most importat thing is to do our best and play as a team.

Switzerland-Czech Republic 0-5

Pavel Zuziak, Head Coach (CZE)

We played a good game in general, we had a good start, we really controlled the game in the first period and we played pretty good throughout the whole game. It's always good to score 5 goals, so I'm satisified with the girls' performance. From a tactical point of view, we managed to do everything that we planned before, so I'm really happy about today's game. We've been having a wonderful time here in Hungary so far, the hotel and the rink is really good. We will have some rest now, make our video analysis and we'll be prepared for the game tomorrow.

Lena-Marie Lutz, Team Captain (SUI)

We gave 100% so in the next game we should give more. We have to be ready in our heads. We need to pull off the pressure from our deffence. This is a very nice place to play ice hockey, the fans were very good. they gave us lots of support. It was nice to play here.

Nicole Ade, Assistant Coach (SUI)

It was a tough game, we had a lot of pressure from the Czech Republic, but we tried to go on and play our game. We lost but we fought and in the third period was better for us. Tomorrow we play against Slovakia and we look forward to win that game.

Finland-Slovakia 13-3

Ema Posingerova, Goalie (SVK)

The first period was very difficult for us,. The second and the third were difficult too, but we concentrated more so we made it easier for ourself ande we even managed to keep up with them. We will have to forget this game and concentrate on the next one tomorrow.

Martin Sojka, Head Coach (SVK)

We had too much respect for the other team in the first period, Finland is one of the best teams in the world and we have a really young team. We told the girls to go out for the first period with power but respect towards the opponent but they respected them too much and it killed our game. After the first period we told them it was a new period coming up, the score doesn't matter, just go out and do your best. This team is very important for me because they will be the core of the U18 and the adult team, it's important for them to gain experience. The problem was in the heads for sure, we have to change their mentality a bit for tomorrow. Every game is different, this tournament is a great oppurtinity for us so we'll be ready for the upcoming games.

Arttu Sissala, Assistant Coach, (FIN)

The first period was good. We managed to get the excitement on a right way. We created enough chances to get roll and scored that amount of goal. After that, we become a little slower, we  didnt play wisely with the puck, we were slappy, bit slow, react how we reacted, but at the end it was a good first game of the tournament. For many players this was the first international game at a tournament like this.  Im very pleased. The best part was the beggining, the worst part was the second period. We need to be more careful with te puck, where to pass, how to pass. We need to be more ready in the corners. We need to play better defence, that will be the biggest challenge for the following games.

Emilia Vesa, Team Captain (FIN)

I think it was a really good game, I played well. I think in the first period I was really good, but I become slower at the end of the game. We had our ups and downs in this game.

Satu Terevainen, forward (FIN)

That was my first big international game. I think I played really well. We have to play harder and be ready for the next games. We are really good at skating and we socre lots of goals.

Russia-Hungary 6-1

Maria Pushkar, forward (RUS)

It's very interesting to play in this level, and we got the result that we wanted. They have a really strong team but I think we were better tonight and we deserved to win. It's a really good experience to be here, for me and for the team as well. It's a new thing but I think it would be good to have this on regular basis, we have a lot of girls who could play in U16 and it would be good experience for everyone.

Evgeni Bobariko, Head Coach (RUS)

First period started rather slow, because the Hungarian girls were moving really good, they made a lot of problems for us and because of this, the quality of the game was really high. We will try to improve from game to game, we will try to fix our mistakes and we'll see what result we get in the end.

Imola Horváth, forward (HUN)

Even though we lost 6-1, I feel like we were fighting till the end of the game. We put out a great work on ice and we were encouraging each other all along the game. I am satisfied with the team work, however, as for myself, I would like to work on some mistakes. We will try to prepare for tomorrow’s game the best we can. We will have a run-through practice and we will relax a bit.

Mira Seregély, forward (HUN)

I felt like I made a few mistakes, but I will try to better, but we did everything we could as a team and as individuals as well, that is what it was enough for. I am very satisfied with the teamwork. Before the tournament our Head Coach set up a goal to create as strong team as possible, and we are on track. If we play our next game like this, we will have a tight battle with Germany on Friday, I hope we will achieve a good result.

Kármen Kerekes, forward (HUN)

It was an incredible experience to play against Russia, I didn’t think we would be able to  stand our graonds so well against them. I am very proud of the good game we have played and the result we could achieve, I hope we can beat Germany tomorrow. The gap is short between the two games, we will try to recover fast.
