Preview against Slovenia

2019.05.03. 10:33 |

After defeating Lithuania to pick up their first win at the Division 1/A World Championships in Kazakhstan. Hungary hopes to make it two in a row with a win over Slovenia.

Just as it looked like Gergely Majoross and his coaching staff have come up with the line combinations, they had go back to the drawing board and start all over again.  There will be two forwards missing from the lineup as János Hári is suspended for one game with Bálint Magosi out with an upper body injury. With the two forwards out, two of the lines will be remaining the same. Andrew Sarauer will take the place of Hári between Erdély and Gallő. The fourth line will be Benk and Terbócs. During the game against Lithuania Szriányi was moved back to playing with Wehrs, thus the defensive pairings will remain the same as the team finished the game. Ádám Vay will get the start in net with Bence Bálizs serving as the backup.

Hungary is very familiar with Slovenia, the two teams have faced each other twice already in the season and have gone up against each other a number of time in the past decade at the World Championships. On top of all of this there are some players from this Slovenian roster who play in Hungary. Andrej Hebar plays for UTE, Ziga Pance spent the past season in Miskolc with Anze Kuralt playing for Fehérvár this past season. Slovenia has 13 players from last seasons roster on their current team, compared to the 17 Hungary has. At the start of the tournament one player who was considered dangerous was Anze Kopitar, who through three games he has three points, he is tied for the team lead with David Rodman who has one goal and two assists. Jan Drozg is a skilled young forward who as the potential to find the back of the net, also Sabolic is a person to keep an eye on. In net both goalies have started games. Throughout the first three games Slovenia as three loses as they were unable to defeat Kazakhstan, Korea and Belarus. These are three very strong teams, in no way will this game be easy for Hungary.

Gergely Majoross, head coach: We are not worried about them. I am sure they have not been too happy with their performance at this World Championships and they will be ready to change this. We have to start strong eary, their key players have been playing a lot in the first three games, where as we have not have had our key players on the ice as much, also we have had more time to regenerate compared to them. We have been forced to make some changes, Sarauer will be playing in the place of Hári. Lucky the Bartalis line played well and we will keep them the same. With Magosi being injured we have to make some different combinations and players will be rotating in on the fourth line. We will be conscious about spreading out the workload equally among the players. We will rotate four lines at the start of the game.
