Linköping-IFK 1-0 (2-1)
After tieing the first leg at home against the club from Helsinki, Vilmos Galló said they would advance since they are a better team on the road. For the winner take all game Galló was on the fourth line for the Swedish club. Garrett Roe scored deep in the first period to put Linköping in the advancing position. They would hold on for the one goal win throughout the rest of the game, Marcus Hogberg would pick up the shutout win in net.
After the game Galló talked about their next opponent who they are familiar with, last years Swedish champions Frölunda. “They are good team but for some reason our tactics and style of hockey always works against them, this will be two equal teams going against each other”
KalPa-Fribourg 2-3 OT (3-4)
In the first leg in Finland the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. The second leg was in Switzerland, KalPa jumped out o a 1-0 lead by the way of Myttynen, before the period was out the game was tied up. Fribourg took a 2-1 lead in the early part of the second period, KalPa tied it up when Tommi Jokinen skated onto a pass from Balázs Sebők and put it past the goalie to tie the game up at 2-2. After a scoreless third period the game went into overtime. At 1:20 of the 3 on 3 period the Swiss club scored to knock out KalPa and leaving the Champions Hockey League without a club from Finland in the final eight.
Sebők was disappointed after the game and said this sometimes this happens as well.
