JKH GKS Jastrzębie takes the first leg of the semifinals

The Polish derby that is one of the semifinal pairings in the Visegrád Cup started this weekend as JKH GKS Jastrzębie took game one 2-0 against GKS Katowice.

Ondrej Raszka started in net for the home team with Robin Rohm playing in net for the visitors. Tweh first period came and went relatively fast as neither team scored or commited a single penalty in the opening twenty minutes.

Things picked up in the second period as both teams had power play opportunities, however both goalies stood their ground and kept the puck out of the net. 

The scoreless deadlock was not broken until the early minutes of the third period as Radoslaw Sawicki found the back of the net for JKH GKS Jastrzębie. The score did not change until the final minutes when Katowice pulled their goalie for the extra attacker and Kamil Gorny scored the empty net goal for the 2-0 win for JKH GKS Jastrzębie.

The two teams are back on the ice tomorrow for the second leg of the semi finals.
