Jastrzebie is one step closer to Visergrád Cup title

JKH GKS Jastrzebie took a one goal win home from Nitra in the first leg of the Visegrád Cup Finals.

The home team started Miroslav Hanuljak in net with Ondrej Raszka between the pipes for the visitors. Nitra scored an early power play goal in the game when Lane Scheidl found the back of the net to make it 1-0. Minutes later the Polish club made it 1-1 by the way of Lukasz Nalewajka. Before the period was out Nitra killed a Mitch Versteeg slashing call.

The second period was all Jastrzębie as Polish national team forward Dominik Pas gave the visitors their first lead of the game. Later in the period Jastrzębie opened up a two goal lead on an equal strength goal by Maris Jass. In the final two minutes of the game period Jastrzębie killed an interference call.

In the first minute of play in the third period Nitra took advantage of a power play to make it a one goal game as Patrik Koys found the back of the net. That was the closest that Nitra would get as Jastrzębie was able to kill a tripping penalty later in the period.

Game two of the finals will be played on January 16th.
