Hungary moves to the top of the standings

Hungary came back from two goals down thanks to four goals in the third period to move into first place at the Division 1/A World Championships in Budapest.

For the game against Denmark head coach Pat Cortina and his coaching staff made a change in net as Stefka Nehring got the start with Anikó Németh serving as the backup goalie. Fruzsina Mayer missed the game because of an injury. Tifani Horváth was centering a line with Fanni Gasparics and Averi Nooren, with Mira Seregély was playing with Réka Dabasi and Alexandra Huszák.
Denmark was the stronger team in the opening minutes but Hungary took control of the game and kept the Denmark net under pressure. Hungary had power play but Jensen kept the puck out of the Danish net. At the midway point of the period Nehring stopped a shot but Persson put the rebound in for the first goal of the game. Hungary was the stronger team throughout the period but Jensen was playing great. In the 14th minute of play Denmark picked up a loose puck, the play finished with Persson doubling the lead for the Scandinavian team.

For the second period Hungary came out even stronger, this time the team converted on their chances. In the 26th minute Hungary converted a power play as Nooren scored from the right side to make it a one goal game. Just past the midway point of the game Garparics centered a pass that bounced off of a Danish skate and past the goalie to make it 2-2. Minutes later Gasparics set up Horváth for the close range shot that the goalie saved however Gasparics was there for the follow up and the goal. The Hungarian goals did not stop there, after a Denmark timeout Hungary made it 4-2 with Gasparics setting up Nooren for the fourth Hungarian goal of the period.

In the third period Hungary had another power play, after 24 seconds Huszák found the back of the net to make it 5-2. In the final 10 minutes Bernadett Németh made it 6-2 with a long shot. Hungary held on to the win and moved up to the top of the standings and they hold their own destiny in their hands.
