Hungary gets shutout by Slovenia

Hungary took on Slovenia in a game where both teams needed the points. In the end Slovenia took the game and the three points as now the two teams are tied in the standings.

With János Hári being suspended and Bálint Magosi out with an injury Andrew Sarauer was moved to play between Erdély and Galló. The rest of the forward lines remained the same as someone will rotate in to play with Benk and Terbócs. The defencemen stayed the same except that Szirányi was back with Wehrs and Varga was the seventh defender. Ádám Vay started in net and Bence Bálizs was the backup. The captain for the game was János Vas with István Bartalis and András Benk as the two assistant captains.

Slovenia started off pressing but János Vas had an early shot that just sailed wide of the goal. After the opening minutes the game balanced out. Sarauer had a nice back door pass to Galló however he could not get a solid shot on net. On their first power play of the game Hungary was able to get a couple of shots on net but they were not able to score. Slovenia scored first when Stebih put a puck on net from the blueline that made it though and beat Vay high glove side. In the final minute of the period Slovenia had their first power play of the game.

In the second period with Slovenia on the power play still Jan Drozg scored to give Slovenia a 2-0 lead. Not much later Slovenia made it 3-0 when Drozg jumped on a loose puck in front of the net and put it home. After a faceoff in the Slovenia end Hungary had a chance but Gergő Nagy was not able to stuff the puck in. On the same play Hungary was called for a penalty, however Hungary killed the two minutes.  Later in the period Kurlat skated in and took a shot from high in the sloat that ended up behind Vay to make it 4-0. Erdély had a great chance but Gracnar made it over to make the save. At the next whistle Hungary switched goalies as Bálizs replaced Vay in net. Bodó had a great chance but Gracnar made the save. In the final minute of play Hungary was dangerous in front of the Slovenian net but Gracnar stood his ground.

In the third period Slovenia came out strong, however Hungary also was able to get shots on net. The first real scoring chance came from István Bartalis when he skated into the Slovenia end and put a shot on net from te slot. On the next rush Benk had a chance from just outside of the crease. Hungary kept on battling hard and started to play more physical late in the game. Late in the period Kopitar took a backdoor pass and put the puck past Bálizs for the goal. Soon after the goal both teams picked up penalties and the game was played in 4 on 4. After the two minutes were over and the game back at 5 on 5 Hungary was not able to stuff the puck in. Late in the game Hungary had a power play but it was Slovenia scoring a goal as Hebar found the back of the cage after a give and go.
