Hungary destroys Italy

The Hungarian women's national team continued their march to promotion to the A-Pool with a 9-0 win over Italy on Friday.

Head coach Pat Cortina and his coaching staff gave Aniko Németh the start in net. Fruzsina Mayer was still out with an injury and thus the lines stayed the same.


In the first period Hungary had two players in the penalty box but the players stood up for the taks and killed the two penalties. Hungary scored the first goal of the game just past the midway point of the period as Fanni Gasparics scored a power play goal. Minutes later it was 2-0 as Alexandra Huszák setup Réka Dabasi with a backdoor pass. Hungary kept on scoring in teh period, just as Italy killed a penalty Hungary made it 3-0 when Gasparics one timed a pass from Averi Nooren.

In the second period Hungary kept on scoring goals. Nooran scored a power play goal to make it 4-0, at this time Italy switched goalies. Nooran scoring minutes later again to make it 5-0. Later in the period Alexandra Ronai stuffed in the puck to make it 6-0 for Hungary. Three minutes later Hungary was on the man advantage again, it took Hungary only 11 seconds to score the power play goal as Gasparics set up Tifani Horváth for the score to make it 7-0.

In the third period both teams were picking up penalties. Hungary had a two man advantage that they were not able to score on however Hungary did score a simple power play goal when Míra Seregély redirected an Emma Kreisz shot past the goalie. Less than a minute later Rónai scored as Hungary picked up the 9-0 win.
