Miklós Haszonits will officiate two games in the Champions Hockey League group stage.

On September 6th he will be working the Salzburg-Cardiff game and a day later the Nürnberg-Mountfield game in the CHL.

How are you preparing for the two CHL games?
I have been getting ready for the upcoming season since May with off ice conditioning. In the time leading up till the games I will try to get on the ice as often as I can before out yearly referee training camp in August.

Will this be the biggest event in your refereeing career?
He a head referee and if we look at the level of the tournament, yes this is the biggest event I have ever worked. A World Championship requires the same amount of preparation as well.

How much do you have to prepare for the playing styles the teams may have?
To a certain level it is worth it to look into how the teams have performed in the past and what players are on the roster. However every game is different than the previous one, it is not worth it to look into anything that has happened in the past.

Who will you be working with in the two games?
All I know is that for one of the games Márton Németh will be a linesman in one of my games and that Dániel Soós will also be working some CHL games. Just like at the World Championships I will be working with new people and will get to know them better. This will be a challenge in trying to get on the same page with people I have not worked with yet but also there will be new memories as well.

What new opportunities will present themselves for you now that you have worked in the CHL?
I hope there will be new opportunities, but of course I will not see this in advance. A lot depends on the quality of work that I will do. I will not be judged just on my performance during one game but over a longer period of time. The work that I did at the past few World Championships helped me get this opportunity to work this game.
