There was a new page added today to the Hungarian-Korean ice hockey rivalry at the Division 1/A World Championships in Kiev, Ukraine.

Head Coach Rich Chernomaz and his coaching staff were forced to make changes to their lineup as János Vas was out with a rib injury. Krisztián Nagy was moved to a line with Csanád Erdély and Vilmos Galló, with István Bartalis, János Hari and Bálint Magosi playing together. There was a change in net as well with Bence Bálizs getting the start in the place of Miklós Rajna.

In the opening minutes of the game Andrew Sarauer centered a pass to Keegan Dansereau whose shot from the slot was saved by Dalton, on the next line change Krisztián Nagy set up Vilmos Galló for the shot from just outside of the crease. In the second half of the period Hungary had to kill back to back penalties that was pretty much a four minute penalty kill. Hungary had to kill a late period penalty as well.

The second period started off with a shot on goal by Kalvin Sagert from the right faceoff circle. This was followed up by back to back Korean penalties, on the front end of the 5 on 3 a Bence Szirányi shot from the blueline was redirected in front of the goal by Kóger and in behind the Korean goalie.  Szirányi had a shot from the slot which Galló followed up by hitting the post. Korea tied the game up when Kisung put a bouncing puck past Bálizs to make it 1-1.

Hungary started off the third period by killing a penalty but minutes later Korea took the lead when a close shot squeezed through Bálizs for the goal. Dansereauhad a shot just bounce wide of the goal with about seven minutes left to play. Korea went up 3-1 off of a counter attack. In the closing minutes Hungary pulled Bálizs for an extra attacker. In the end this was not enough for Hungary.
