In the last few seasons Fehérvár has made the playoffs however their best showing was a semifinal loss during the 2015-16 season. This year the team would like to make that far again in the playoffs. Roster went through a number of changes, with a breath of fresh air coming this year anything is possible for the young squad.
The team has a new coach in Dávid Kiss, a young up and coming coach who has found success at every level he has been at both as an assistant coach and a head coach. This season will be a new challenge for him, however he has the benefit of knowing his players as he has coached most of them since they were playing at the U18 level. Assisting him will be another young coach, recently retired Máté Arany.
The goalies who will get most of the workload will be Dániel Kornakker and Dávid Gyenes, since the Titánok are the farm team for the EBEL squad in Fehérvár both goalies will also get playing time in the EBEL as well, but Kornakker looks to be the starting goalie. Martin Szeles will also get a few games during the season.
The team is very young on the back end but have two imports in Curt Gogol a veteran player with almost 200 AHL games on his resume. The other is Myles McGurty who is entering his first season of pro hockey after being a offensive minded defender at Dalhousie University in Canada. Attila Reiter is probably the most experienced player in the unit as he has national team experience and is entering his sixth season of pro hockey. Tamás Láday is another player who has also played for the Hungarian national team is expected to be a vital part of the Titánok defence, however depending on the injury situation with the EBEL squad he will probably be the first player called up from the farm. Patrik Imre last season played in the top two lines all year and looks to build off of the experience gained. Roland Kiss had an outstanding rookie year last season with UTE and Flórián Sándor is a big bruising player, these are two young guys to keep an eye. This unit has the skills, but just need to gain experience during the season.
The forward unit also has two import players in Jack Lewis and Mark Bennett, Lewis spent one season in France after spending four season as Lake Forest College, Bennett spent a three seasons in the ECHL after playing his college career at Union College. These two players are expected to carrying the scoring for the team, despite this they do have a number of skilled young forwards as well. It could be said that it is worth to keep an eye on just about all the players. Andor Péter, Ákos Mihály, Benedek Madácsi and Hunor Császár will pretty much be playing their first season of pro hockey, all have the skill set just need to gain experience. Bence Balogh, Szilárd Hamvai, Patrik Kiss, Dániel Mazzag and Dániel Vizi have been playing for the Titánok the past few years, they can be inserted into the lineup just about anywhere. Just like with the defencemen, there will be forwards that will be called up to the EBEL incase of injuries.
The team has more depth on the back end starting from the goalie position and moving up to the forwards. However the team has tremendous potential, if the team makes the playoffs they are a team that can surprise just about anyone in the league.
Dávid Kiss head coach: We have roster that is made up of motivated young players who have been playing together for a number of years. We found four great import players that are great additions to the team. The team is goal oriented and have great work moral. The reason we have the farm team is to develop young players who when they are ready they can make the move up to the EBEL team. We want to get as many young players ice time as possible. Our goal as a team is to make the playoffs and from there anything can happen. The league has changed this past season and I am sure there will be surprise results during the season. The league will be much tighter than in years before.
