DVTK captures Hungarian Cup

DVTK Jegesmedvék took home their first Hungarian Cup title since 2015 with a 4-0 shutout win over UTE as they won the cup for the second time in club history.

In 2015, then playing under the name of Miskolci Jegesmedvék, the club pulled off the first trifecta in Hungarian hockey history as they one the Hungarian Cup, Hungarian title and the MOL League gold under the leadership of Gergely Majoross. With the second leg of the Visegrad Cup finals being played next week DVTK has a chance for taking home four different titles in the 2017-18 season. DVTK finished runners up in the Hungarian Cup both in 2015 and 2016 when they lost to Fehérvár and MAC respectively.


DVTK-UTE 4-0

The host team had Attila Adorján between the pipes with UTE countering with Ales Sila. At the midway point of the first period DVTK scored two goals in the span of 1:24 by the way of Bálint Magosi. Magosi tapped in a pass from Colin Joe to go up 1-0, the next goal came off of an odd man rush as Mogis fired a shot from the right wing that made it past SIla. UTE coach Zoltán Szilassy called timeout as to settle down his players.

The move worked as the score remained the same until the 34th minute mark when Nikandrosz Galanisz banged home a rebound from the slot to make it 3-0 in the favor of DVTK.

In the closing stanza of the game DVTK had a 4 on 3 man advantage when János Vas set up Anssi Rantanen for the one timer from the right faceoff circle that ended up in the back of the net to make it 4-0. DVTK would hold on to the shutout win as Adorján pitched the shutout for the gold medal.
