Detva picks up big win in the Visegrád Cup

Slovak side HC 07 Detva defeated UTE by the score of 6-1 to stay undefeated in the group stage of the Visegrád Cup.

Roman Petrik got the start in net for the home team with Dávid Duschek between the pipes for UTE. It did not take long for Detva to have the lead as Peter Valent opened up the scoring less than a minute into the game. Later in the period Peter Zuzin doubled the lead for Detva with a power play goal. In the closing minutes of the opening period Devin DiDiomete and Marek Pac got into a fight as both players were tossed from the game with 5+20.

The score remained unchanged until late in the second period when Jared Brown set up Eric Pance for the score the short handed goal to make it a one goal game. Less than a minute later Detva was back up by two goals after Tomas Klima found the back of the net for the power play score.

In the third period Detva pulled away with an early goal in the period by Matej Luptak, with Frederik Fekiac making it 5-1 just after UTE killed a penalty. In the closing period Jan Sykora scored to set the final score at 6-1.
