Brasov has had a strong team for the last few seasons but have not been able to get back to the championship finals since 2014 when they lost Nové Zamky. They have always had a nice mix of talented import players and native players as well. In goal they are returning Patrik Polc, who acquired his Romanian citizenship and Zoltán-László Tőke, who has become the number one keeper for the Romanian national team despite only being 23 years old. With Polc being eligible for the Romanian national team, who ever will be the number one keeper in Brasov will also be the starter for Romania. The third string goalie is Szilárd Béres.
On defense the team has three imports, American Evan Stoflet who joined the team from the ECHL, Richard Filip who is a familiar face to the Brasov fans and former NHL first round pick Logan MacMillan. MacMillan has a pedigree that speaks for itself. There is a solid group of veteran defenseman made up of István Nagy, Csaba Nagy and Attila Imecs along with Yevgeni Yemelyanenko who has his Romanian citizenship as well. Huba Bors and Zoltán Csiki have a number of senior seasons under their belt despite their young age.
So far Braden Walls is the only import forward that the team has, Walls who is a former teammate of Dr. Viktor Szélig joins the Romanian team after six seasons in France. The scoring should not be a problem for the team if Árpád Mihály continues what he did last season, Ede Mihály should be a nice addition from Galati. Levente Zsók, Denis Zabludovsky, Dániel Tranca, Martin Saluga and Roberto Gliga should round out the top two lines for the club. Saluga will not count as an import player for Brasov in the Erste Liga. Zsombor Molnár, Zsombor Balázs and the Bíró brothers can all be effective playing in the bottom six forwards. It will be hard to stay completely healthy during the long season in which they will have the Erste Liga regular season and playoffs, Romanian regular season and playoffs, Romanian Cup and the Continental Cup.
Martin Lacroix is heading into his second season with the club, he worked with the Romanian national team after the regular season, he is now familiar with his team and his opponents, just like everyone else Brasov wants to improve upon last season.
Hunor Strenk: Just like in the past this year will be balanced league from top to bottom. The dark horse in this story are the Vienna Capitals farm team, however it is unfortunate that Debrecen will not be competing in the league this season. We will be competing for 4 different trophies this season, because of this we would like to have a deep roster to be able to compete. We will be signing a couple of more import players as we still have three spots empty on the roster. Our goal is to make it to the final four in the Erste Liga. Our strength is the depth that we have among the Romanian players, we have been working hard since the start of your August training camp and have been fine tuning everything.
