Hungary national team forward Bálint Horváth has left Rögle, the team that he has spent the past four season for Tyringe.

The young forward made his senior national team debut this season, after spending the past four seasons in the Rögle youth system and playing eight regular season games and one playoff game in the SHL he has decided to move on to Division 1 club Tyringe. “I had talked to the management at Rögle and they said they do not plan on keeping me for next season.”

“I will be joining a club that has great facilities.” said Horváth, this is pretty a much a village where hockey is a part of the everyday life. In a place like this it will be easy to just concentrate on hockey.”

Last season Horváth played six games in the Division 1 with Kristianstads, the plan was for him to play there during the 2019-20 season but they were promoted to the Allsvenskan. This does not mean that he wont have a chance to play there next season. “If I play well in Tyringe then I will have a chance to get called up to Kristianstads during the season” said Horváth with regards to where he will play next season.

We also asked Horváth what the goals are for him and the team for the upcoming season. “The teams goals are the same as mine, to have a good season and to make the playoffs, this means we will need to start the season off strong and to be in the top half by Christmas.”

This summer Horváth will start the summer off in Sweden but then will be doing his offseason training in his home town of Győr before heading back to Sweden for the start of the preseason.

Horváth is not the first Hungarian to be playing in Division 1 in Sweden, in the past János and Máron Vas, János Hári, Brance Orbán, Keegan Dansereau, Gábor Bugár, Norbert Antal and Roger Holéczy have all played in this league.
