Balázs Vigh passes away in tragic bus accident

The Hungarian ice hockey community is mourning, as former Ferencváros and UTE forward Balázs Vigh passed away in the tragic bus accident that happened over the weekend in Verona Italy.

Balázs came up through the MAC youth system before turning pro with Ferencváros in 2000 through 2009. After sitting out a season he was back in the MOL League with UTE. He played the 2014-15 season and the 2015-16 season with Tisza Volán, which had competed in the Serbian League.

Ferencváros released the following statement.
“A bus containing students of the Szinyei Merse Pál Gimnázium were returning from a ski trip when for unknown reasons the bus crashed into the guardrail on the side of the road. The tragedy happened Friday night Küki and his sister passed away in the accident along with 14 others. Their parents survived the accident, their father György Vigh went back into the crash and risked his own life as he saved a number of students lives.”

The Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation and the MOL League remembered the decided with one minute of silence before the hockey matches.
