After spending last season and the first part of this season in North America, Hungarian national team defenceman Balázs Gőz has returned to Hungary and will be playing in the Extraliga for his hometown team.

DVTK has added some blueline depth as they have picked up Hungarian national team player Balázs Gőz from the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL. Gőz left DVTK at the start of last season and signed with Roanoke in the SPHL but was called up after 10 games to the ECHL where he finished the season. This was Gőz’s third stint in North America as he had junior hockey in the CSHL and two years later in the AWHL. The Miskolc born player has represented Hungary at the U18 and U20 World Championships and has played in four senior World Championships including in Krakow in 2015 when Hungary won promotion to the A-Pool.

How come you decided to leave Norfolk?
The biggest reason was because I was not really getting playing time. We had five other players that had an NHL or AHL contracts. When they were sent down the head coach had to play them he did not have any other choice. This is how the system works, the players with contracts from higher up have to get more playing time. This meant that me and two other guys were battling for the last defensive spot for the games. Between the three of us I had played the most games. I did not see the point of staying if I was not playing and having a chance to develop. I sat down with the coaches and explained how I felt. They understood where I was coming from and we decided on that the team would let me go and I would look towards Europe.

You were born and raised in Miskolc and have played for DVTK in the past, aside from this what other reasons made you decided on Miskolc?
Yes this is my hometown but also before the season started I had worked out with the team and got to know Glen Hanlon very well. I really liked his coaching style and the environment that he created in the locker room. Miskolc is very good organization that I am familiar with and I feel that I can help them.

Overall how do you feel physically right now?
I feel pretty good, even though statistically it might not show but I have been having a pretty good season up until now. Now I am happy to get on the ice with my new team.
