2019-20 Continental Cup Schedule set

FTC-Telekom has Hungarian Champions will be participating in the Continentla Cup during the 2019-20 hockey season.

The Budapest team will enter match play in the second round in Group D which will be held in Ritten, Italy. The teams in this group will be Ritten, Ljubljana, FTC-Telekom and the winner of Group B. The group play will be held between October 18th and the 20th.

The winner of Group D will advance to the third round to play in Group E in Denmark between November 15th through the 17th. Group E will be made up of The NOttingham Panthers, Amiens Gothiques from France, host team SonderjyskE,  and the winner of Group D.

The Continental Cup Finals will be played between January 10th through the 12h. The top two teams in Group E and Group F will move on to the Finals. The site of the championship round is to be determined at a later date.

Here are the groups for the rest of the tournament.

First round, 20-22 September 2019:
Group A in Istanbul, Turkey: Crvena Zvezda Belgrade (SRB), Irbis-Skate Sofia (BUL), Skautafelag Akureyrar (ISL), Zeytinburnu İstanbul (TUR).

Group B in Mechelen, Belgium: KHL Zagreb (CRO), HYC Herentals (BEL), Txuri Urdin San Sebastian (ESP), Bat Yam Hockey (ISR).

Second round, 18-20 October 2019:
Group C in Druzhkivka, Ukraine: Mogo Riga (LAT), HC Donbass (UKR), Corona Brasov (ROU), Winner Group A.

Group D in Ritten, Italy: Ritten Sport (ITA), FTC-Telekom (HUN), Olimpija Ljubljana (SLO), Winner Group B.

Third round, 15-17 November 2019:
Group E in Vojens, Denmark: Nottingham Panthers (GBR), Amiens Gothiques (FRA), SonderjyskE Vojens (DEN), Winner Group D.

Group F in Krakow, Poland: Beibarys Atyrau (KAZ), Neman Grodno (BLR), Cracovia Krakow (POL), Winner Group E.

Final, 10-12 January 2020:
Final: The top-two teams of Group D and the top-two teams of Group E will play in the final tournament to be held at the venue of one of the four teams.

Last season MAC was unable to advance out of the second round. During the 2017-18 season DVTK advanced out of Group C in Brasov with a perfect record but just missed out on advancing to the finals as they had two overtime wins against Astana and Bruleurs de Loups, but lost to host team Ritten. In 2013-14 and in 2011-12 Dunaújváros made it to the third round.

In 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07 Fehérvár were in the finals as the host team. In the early and mid 2000s Dunaferr and Fehérvár would make deep runs in the Continental Cup on a regular basis.
