Young squad opens camp

Jarmo Tolvanen and his coaching staff put the team was put through a long practice where the staff tried to cover as much as they could in the session since a large number of players were called in for the first time.

As it was mentioned before the coaching staff is looking at a number of younger players with the veterans getting played in possible new roles for them.

In net the team will have Miklós Rajna who has represented Hungary at a number of World Championships and Bence Kiss who will be making his senior national team debut.

The defencive unit is also similar with Zsombor Garát having World Championship experience, Roland Vokla, Márk Szaller, Bence Szabó and Tamás Láday all have played for the national team.

The forwards will be led by two veteran players in András Benk and Gergő Nagy, who have both played in two A-Pool World Championships. István Terbócs and Péter Vincze have both represented Hungary at the World Championships in the past.

Ákos Mihály, forward: I was very surprised to be called in eventually into the national team, especially that I am playing in my first pro season. The first part of the season has been going well for me and I hope that I can prove that I can play at this level.

Miklós Rajna, goalie: It is always an honor to play in the national team, this year I was a bit unlucky since the game I was supposed to start in was cancelled. It is nothing new to be called in, we are always like to be called in and have chance to be with the guys. This time we have a younger squad than usual. We are trying to get to know each other and to be on the same page. Bence Kiss has not played in the national team yet, but he has been in camps in the past and he knows the guys, so he might not be as new as some of the guys who I just met in person for the first time. We are always open to helping each other, for me not just the goalies but anywhere we can.

István Terbócs, forward: It is a bit strange to have such a young team but I will try to help the new guys where I can. Everyone where had to cross that threshold of playing their first national team and us older guys will help them to relax and to not be all stressed. For most of us this memory is very new for us still so we can help them.
