DEAC defeated UTE in the top game of the day. First place Csíkszereda and second place FTC-Telekom both won on the road in the ERSTE Liga.

DEAC-UTE: 4-3 (0-1, 2-0, 2-2)
The game of the day was an exciting back and forth game between DEAC and UTE. The fourth line for UTE opened up the scoring in the second minute of the game when the 19 year old Ákos Horváth found the back of the net. The rest of the period was highlighted by penalties and a fight between Arnold Varga and Bronson Kovács, the UTE defender ended up getting 2+2+10 minutes.
In the second period the visitors had more shots on net, however DEAC managed to flip the score on the few scoring chances they had. Hugo Turcotte tied the game up with Attila Németh giving DEAC their first lead of the game. The third period started with an advantage for DEAC on a penalty from the second period. DEAC took advantage of this with a power play goal by Kovács, a minute later Kulesov scored as well. UTE called timeout to settle the troops. The Budapest team had a number of power plays but were unable to score on them.  In the 58th minute Ferenc Kocsis scored for UTE with Ladislav Sikorcin scoring a minute later, however UTE was not able to tie the game upas Debrecen took the win and moved up to third place as UTE slipped down to fifth.

David Musial, head coach, DEAC: Újpest is a good team, they are one of the top teams in the league. In the first period we played well, our defending was working as well. We continued to play well in the second period and we started to score goals. In the end we thought we had the game won but that is when it got interesting. We were able to beat a good team in a good game.

Zoltán Szilassy, head coach, UTE: This was an exciting fast paced game, unfortunately we did not win today. We got from the opponents what we expected, this is why I am a bit bad they scored two goals that we had prepared for. During the 60 minutes we were not able to defend the way we had practiced. We could have pulled away in the second period, we had a lot of scoring chances but we were not able to score on them. They scored a power play goal that but us behind the eight ball and after that we just ran out of time. We should have scored more goals, and over course how it always is, when you don’t score on your chances the other team will. We need to learn from this game.

Fehérvár-SC Csíkszereda 2-6 (0-2, 1-3, 1-1)
Fehérvár started off well, but they were not able to find the back of the net. First place Csíkszereda pulled away in the first period off of two goals by Radim Valchar. In the second period Tamás Bíró made it 3-0, this was followed up by goals from Szilárd Rokaly and a short handed goal by Sulakov. Dániel Mazzag scored the lone Fehérvár goal in the period. In the third period Tamás Részegh scored against his former team and Hamvai scored a late goal to make it 6-2.

Dávid Kiss, head coach, Fehérvár: If we look at the box score, in even strength the score was 2-2, which I think we can be proud of against a team like Csíkszereda. What did not work at all today was our power play, not only were we unable to score a goal, we only had one shot make it to the net. Also our penalty kill did not work either as they scored three power play goals. Against Brasov our 5 on 5 hockey did not work, we fixed that, now we need to work on our special teams.

Leo Gudas, head coach, Csíkszereda: We played well both in our defensive zone and in the neutral zone. The home team attacked but we did not really give them any chances to score a goal, this was the key to today’s game. We are in a tough stretch right now as we have four games in five days. I am proud of the guys for what they have been able to do in the past two games. We have a day off tomorrow and then we have two games in two days, these will not be easy games.

Schiller-Vasas- FTC-Telekom 1-3 (0-0, 0-1, 1-2)
The visitors put pressure on Vasas in the first period as they had twice has many shots on net, however Koitmaa stopped all the shots. With both Adrián Tóth and Tamás Bálint in the penalty box the game was played in 4 on 4, which benefited Ferenváros as they scored the first goal off of a nice tic-tac-toe play which ended with a goal by Walls. Vasas could have tied the game up soon after, FTC also had chances as Walls hit the post. In the 45th minute of play Vasas tied the game up with a goal from Gergő Székely-Mádai. Fradi was shorthanded for four minute but killed the penalty. Adrián Tóth had a chance, on the other end Barna Czakó had one as well but both Koitmaa and Pleszkán stood their ground to keep the score unchanged. Late n the game Koitmaa saved a shot from Myles Fitzgerald but Attila Pavuk put the round in to give Fradi back the lead. Late in the Vasas had a power play but it was Fradi that scored as last week’s player of the week Leo Fitzgerald beat Koitmaa for the third goal of the game.

Balázs Ladányi, head coach, Vasas: The team brought what I had asked from them, we had played well in both ends of the ice. We still need to work on our power play, it is hard to win a game by only scoring one goal. We can build off of this game.

Szabolcs Fodor, head coach, FTC: This was a hard game, I top my hat to Vasas and the way they played. They did what they had to do, they skated a lot and defended well. We had a lot of chances and shots on goal, in the end we found a way to win and I’m happy about that.

Corona Brasov-Vienna Capitals 4-1 (0-0, 3-1, 1-0)
Árpád Mihály and Jereme Tendler both scored twice, this was enough for Brasov as they moved up to the top half of the standings. Recently signed former KHL player Sergei Peretyagin did not play today.

Greg Lindqvist, head coach, Brasov: I am not happy with the way we played today. If Vienna made mistakes because of their youth, we made mistakes because of our age. We gave away the puck too often and we did not take good shots in the first period. We did not make the best decisions and we did not take advantage of the chances that were presented to us. The score was what we wanted but not the way we played. We are not playing at the level that I would like us to be at, we can only do one thing and that is to work harder.

Santeri Heiskanen, head coach, Vienna: We played well but had too many penalties. We made a lot of mistakes in the second period which had Brasov scoring easy goals. Overall I think we played well, our goalie played well. We made mistakes based on the lack of experience that we have.
