Previews against Kazakhstan

Hungary will be taking on the host nation Kazakhstan in their final game at the Division 1/A World Championships. Depending on what is the result of the Slovenia-Lithuania game this might be a must win game for Hungary.

Head coach Gergely Majoross and his coaching staff made some changes to the lineup as János Hári has sat out his suspension. He will take his place in the first line between Erdély and Galló with Andrew Sarauer centering the fourthline. Gergő Nagy and András Benk switched places with Benk on the third line with Nagy on the fourth. The defensive pairings remained the same, Bence Bálizs will start in net with Ádám Vay as the backup. Bálint Magosi is still out of the lineup because of an injury. It would be nice to finish the tournament on a high note, however it will not be easy.

Kazakhstan has already moved up to the A-Pool, they will be playing for first place on home ice. The team is filled with a large number of KHL players who are playing for Barys. On the roster there are 12 players who were born outside of Kazakhstan, of the one is from Sweden and four from North Americans. The team has a number of outstanding players, Henrik Karlsson  has played great during the tournament however with Kazakhstan already moving up they might give number two goalie Kudryavtsev the start between the pipes for the final game. The leading scorer through four games with three goals and two assist is Nikita Mikhailis. Other players who have had a strong World Championships in the scoring department are Malenikov, Dietz and team captain Brandon Bochenski. With having 14 players who played in the KHL this season and five who have appeared in the NHL during their career, as well as this team has depth and experience at a high level. The game will not be easy, but if Hungary sticks to their game plan that the coaches have drawn up and battle hard Hungary can defeat Kazakhstan at the World Championships for the first time since 2013.

Gergely, Majoross, head coach: I would keep it separated for how important is the game for us and them. By the time we play the game we will know about the situation. Either way we want to win so we do not close this World Championships with a bad taste in our mouths. I think we should be thankful that we have another game left and we are not closing the season after the game against Slovenia. The players have a enough pride that they will not let the season go on a low point. Kazakhstan will play in a similar style to Belarus but they have better players. We have played against Kazakhstan a lot and we are familiar with them. We made the changes in the line to have energy, someone to pick up pucks. This is a switch that we made to make all the lines work.
