UTE wins first Derby of the season in OT

UTE flipped the score thanks to a brace by Andrej Hebar as they took the Budapest derby in overtime against FTC-Telekon.

For the second game in two days FTC head coach Szabolcs Fodor gave Gerely Arany the start in net. Fradi was missing Richárd Hardi, Krisztián Dosa and Leo Fitzgerald out with injuries. UTE had Ales Sila between the pipes.

The game started off with a fast pace as both teams created scoring chances. UTE was more active and kept Ferencváros goalie Gergely Arany on his toes. In the 18th minute Ferencváros scored the first goal of the game when a Dávid Jászai centering pass went off of the skate of UTE defender Arnold Varga and into the back of the net.

The second period was mostly controlled by Ferencváros however they were unable to capitalize on their chances. Attila Pavuk was awarded a penalty shot, however the forward missed the net as Fradi was double their lead.

In the third period UTE started to turn on the heat, however Arany stood his ground in an effort to preserve the shutout. Down the stretch both teams had power plays but were unable to convert on the chances. Late in the game UTE called timeout, the move panned out as Hebar one timed a rocket that made it into the back of the net to make it 1-1, with just under two minutes to go. With game tied at the end of regulation the game went to overtime.

UTE started the extra time on a power play. Hebar had a shot on net that Arany originally had saved but was unable to control the puck as it trickled just over the goal line for the winning score.
