U20: Preview against Latvia

The Hungarian U20 national team was put through a short but intense game day skate in which 2 on 2 and 2 on 1 situations were worked on. By the sights and sounds of it the Hungarians are ready for the puck to drop.

B.Tóth (Garbacz)

The Latvia is coached by Karlis Zirnis, this is his first time as the head coach of the Latvian U20 team but has been coaching for the Latvian federation since 2012. He has mostly been an assistant coach with the senior team. At the club level he is the head coach of the Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL. The Latvian roster is mostly made up of players who are playing for HK Riga in the MHL, which is the Russian junior league. Two guys to keep an eye on from Latvia is Renars Krastenbergs and Emils Gegeris.

Szabolcs Fodor, assistant coach: We will be facing an A-Pool team from last season, the game will be fast paced, the coaching staff is hoping that the players play a disciplined game. The IIHF rules are always stricter than at the club level. We need disciplined short shits and who we can stick to the system. We have not really faced them but they just missed out on staying in the A-Pool, they play a very compact style.

Barnabás Majoross, team captain: We are really excited to see what will happen tonight, and we want to show what we can accomplish and win the game. We know that they were relegated from last season, they are a good team. This makes today’s battle even more beautiful.
