Head coach Jarmo Tolvanen decided to start Máté Garbacz in net with Balázs Tóth serving as the backup. It was planned that the two goalies would split the game. Barnabás Majoross was the team captain with Roland Kiss and Bence Szabó were the assistant captains.
Hungary started the game well, Nátán Vértes had a chance in the opening minutes of the game. Later on Zsolt Szalma had a backhanded shot that just missed the cage. Norway was also creating chances but Máté Garbacz stood tall in the net during the opening period. Norway took the only penalty in the opening period, Hungary setup the power play but were unable to convert on the advantage. Márk Vas and Bence Szabó both had shots but the goalie stopped it. In the closing minutes of the period Bálint Horváth had a nice chance however the shot sailed just wide.
In the opening minutes of the second period Hungary was on the power play again, just like on the first one, they set up nicely but were unable to convert on it. Later in the period Bálint Horváth took a pass from Zsolt Szalma and threw a shot on net, that was redirected from close range by Donát Szita past the goalie to give Hungary a 1-0 lead. As it was planned Hungary switched goalies as Balázs Tóth came in for Máté Garbacz. In the closing minutes of the period Hungary had a power play chance again. This time Bence Szabó hit the post with a shot from the blueline, on the next rush Andor Péter took a pass from Roland Kiss and sent a one timer into the back of the net to make it 2-0.
Early in the third period Hungary opened up a 3-0 lead, again it was Szita redirecting a shot past the Norwegian goalie. Soon after Ákos Szigeti took a pass from Bence Szabó and shot it from the top of the faceoff circle for the fourth Hungarian goal. Later in the period Hungary relaxed a bit and with just under ten minutes left in the period a Norway shot trickled through the goalie for the goal. Minutes later Norway found their second goal this time they put a rebound home. With just under two minutes to play Marcell Révész scored an empty net goal to make it 5-2. With only seconds left Ákos Mihály found the back of the net as Hungary picked up the 6-2 win.
