U19: Hungary closes out tournament with win

In the closing game of the 4 Nations Tournament in Kapsovár the Hungarian U19 team took on Austria a country that the U20 had faced twice during the season.

Hungary-Norway 5-1

The coaching staff went with Kristóf Nagy as the starting goalie with Martin Szeles serving as the backup goalie and Balázs Tóth was out of the lineup. Also missing the game because of injury was Hunor Császár and Ákos Nagy, Bálint Pákozdi had to travel back to his team, which was already known before the start of the tournament. With this Hungary was playing with three forward lines.

The scoring started early for Hungary, in the second minute of play Gergő Vincze scored a power play goal to make it 1-0 for Hungary, nine seconds later it was 2-0 after Richárd Kedves found the back of the net. The scoring did not finish their as Arnold Búzás put the puck past the goalie in the fourth minute. With the score 3-0 in Hungary’s favor the team played without any pressure on them. Both teams had power plays later in the period but the score remained unchanged throughout the rest of the period.

In the second period Kedves scored his second goal of the game as he put the puck past the goalie for the shorthanded unassisted score as Hungary went up 4-0. The Hungarian defence held up well throughout the second period and deep into the third.

Austria was not able to put the puck past Nagy until the 48th minute of the game with a power play goal. However 70 seconds later Andor Péter scored an even strength goal to make it 5-1 for Hungary. The home team ended up holding on to the win. At the end of the game it was unknown if Hungary would finish in first or second place since that would depend on the outcome of the other matchup.
