The two U18 squads finished up their weekend, In Budapest Hungary finished in first place. The squad in Poland learned a lot and took the next step in the in the process that sets up the U18 program.

Hungary-Slovenia 6-5 (Budapest)
Head coach Glen Williamson decided to use both goalies in the final game of the 4 Nations tournament in Budapest. Levente Márkus started between the pipes with Martin Szeles coming in at the midway point of the game. Hungary took a 1-0 lead in the first minute of play when Márk Almási set up Nándor Fejes for the first goal. Slovenia tied it up at 1-1. This time Almási scored to put Hungary back on top. Later in the period Fejes scored his second goal of the game, within a minute Nátán Vértes scored to give Hungary a 4-1 lead. Before the period was out Fejes completed his hat trick, with Slovenia scoring twice in the closing minutes. The high scoring first period finished up 5-3 for Hungary. In the second period made it a one goal game after being down 5-1. The one goal difference stayed for the rest of the second period. In the first minute of the third period Ákos Horváth gave Hungary some breathing room for a bit. However later in the period Slovenia again got back within one. Hungary defended the one goal lead for the rest of the period and held onto the win on their way to first place at the 4 Nations Tournament.

Brúnó Kreisz, forward: Our play improved from game to game throughout the tournament. We played the best during the game against France and the first period against Slovenia. The point is that we improved. We would like to be peaking in April at the World Championships. Me playing well was thanks to my linemates, but the entire team played well.

Gábor Bugár, defenseman: We started well in the first period and scored five goals, but in the end we let some air out in the end of the period. Our legs were not working as well and we were not attacking the goals as much as we would have liked. After that we were able to control the game, we started to play aggressively, we moved the puck well and won the one-on-one battles.

Máté Seregély, defenseman: Everyone went all out and we were all pushing each other, this was the reason why we scored five goals in the first period. As we mature mentally we will not let leads like this slip away, instead we will have larger leads.

Austria U19-Hungary 8-1
The Hungarian U18 national team played their final game in Sanok Poland against the Austrian U19 national team which was made up of mostly older players. A number of these Austrians had played at the U20 World Championships and just missed out on being promoted to the A-Pool. The team did not get as much rest as they would have liked since they played a late game the night before, hitting the bed around midnight and they were back on the ice at 9 A.M. Hungary closed the first period down 2-1, with Bence Korchma scoring the Hungarian goal. Hungary pulled away in the second and third periods for the 8-1 win.

Tamás Sille, Head Coach: the game against Poland took a lot of energy from us, despite this we were able to keep up the tempo in the first period. Austria scored the first goal but we were able to get one back soon after to tie the game up at 1-1. Austria took a one goal lead into the first intermission. We worked hard in the second and third periods but because of the number of penalties we had to kill we drained our energy. We learned a lot during the tournament, we played great games against great teams. There were positives during the three games, but there are things we still need to work on as well.
