U16: Hungary Picks up their second win in Prague

After opening up the Billa Cup with a win over Sparta Praha, the Hungarian U16 national team was back in action on Friday night as they took on Eisbaren Berlin. Thanks to stellar defending and a productive offense Hungary stayed undefeated in Prague.
Hungary-Berlin 8-0

Head Coach Bence Svasznek gave Zsombor Ollári the start in net after Tamás Monostori let one goal in the night before.  The game started out well for Hungary as Norbert Karda put the puck past the Berlin keeper for the 1-0. The hard work kept on going for Hungary and it paid off as they opened up a 2-0 lead thanks to a goal by Dániel Csölle. The score stayed the same throughout the rest of the first period.

In the second period Hungary picked up some breathing room with their third goal of the game, Márkó Csollák beat the Berlin goal to make it 3-0 for Hungary. Márk Schleckmann scored for the second game in a row to give Hungary a 4-0 lead as the teams headed into the second intermission.

Hungary kept the pressure on the German club in the closing period. Balázs Kóger made it 5-0, Krisztán Hódi also beat the goalie for the sixth Hungarian goal. The goals kept on coming as the period went on with Pál Horváth scoring his first goal of the tournament to make it 7-0. After scoring hat trick in the opening game of the tournament, Kristóf Németh found the back of the cage again as he scored the eighth and final goal of the 8-0 shutout victory. Ollári went the distance as he pitched a shutout win.

With the win Hungary won their group and will go straight to the semifinals and take on the winner of RedBull Salzburg-Eisbaren Berlin game on Saturday night.

Mátyás Tornyai, Defenceman: I am happy that we won the game, but the tournament really start tomorrow with the semi finals. We will do everything we can to win the game.

Zsombor Gajda, Forward: We really took control of the game in the second period, and the goals kept on coming. We played well against a strong opponents, I have to thank my linemates for the great game that I had.
