Hungary opened up the tournament against Czech Selects, the coaching staff decided to give Dávid Csibi the start in net and Zoltán Straubinger was the backup goalie. The game remained scoreless until the Czech Selects took advantage of their second powerplay of the opening period. Minutes later the Czech Selects were up 2-0.
With the score still close the Selects opened up at 3-0 lead, 5:41 into the first period. Hungary ended the shutout against them when they scored on their third power play of the second period. Bence Horváth put the puck into the back of the net with DOnát Horváth picking up the assist. In the closing minutes of the game the Czech Selects scored their fourth goal of the game to make it 4-1.
Hungary will be back on the ice tomorrow at 14:05 when they take on South East France Selects and will have a second game at 18:35 against Salming Hockey Elite.
