Sarauer returns to Fehérvár

National team forward Andrew Sarauer has returned to Fehérvár AV 19 after spending one season with EBEL rivals Villach SV.

The national team transfer of the summer has been announced as Andrew Sarauer returned “home”, the national team forward had played in Székesfehérvár between 2013-14 and 2015-16. He gained his Hungarian citizenship before the 2015 World Championships and has a stable member of the national team ever since.

“I am very happy to be back in Székesfehérvár, I think that the team will be very strong next season and we can have a successful season. I talked to the management and the coaching staff and I feel very positive about the next season. We have the same goals for next season, we want to make the playoffs and be consistent throughout the season. We saw with Bolzano this past season, anything can happen.” said Sarauer to the Fehérvár AV 19 website.

He was a member of the Hungarian team at the 2015 World Championships that won promotion to the A-Pool and participated in the A-Pool in Russia in 2016. Sarauer had originally come to Fehérvár from the now defunct Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL.

The Canadian born forward played his junior seasons in the BCHL, after which he was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks. He would go on to play college hockey at Northern Michigan, after which he spent three seasons in the ECHL and the AHL. He first played in Europe in Denmark during the 2011-12 season.

Sarauer has played a total of 48 games for the Hungarian national team.
