Ready for Slovenia

2018.04.25. 12:13 |
After getting the afternoon off to regenerate both mentally and physically, the Hungarian national team had their first mandatory game day skate of the tournament.

Jarmo Tolvanen and the coaching staff put the team through a shooting drill and also worked on their neutral zone play. The practice ended with a fast paced 2 on 1 drills.

The coaching staff also made same changes to the lineup. Mostly the lines are the same it was in the third period of the game against Italy. Csanád Erdély was moved to play with János Hári and Balázs Sebők. Vilmos Galló and István Sofron will be on the wings of Andrew Sarauer. János Vas is centering Gergő Nagy and Bálint Magosi, András Benk took the place of Erdély on the line with Dániel Kóger and Krisztián Nagy. Chris Bodó will be the 13th forward. The defencemen pairings stayed the same. Ádám Vay will get his third start in a row and Miklós Rajna will be the backup goalie.

The Slovenian team is another country that Hungary is familiar with, Ales Music and Luka Vidmar spent the past season playing in Fehérvár and Anze Ropret played spent the past two seasons in Hungary with UTE, Andrej Hebar played the 2016-17 also in UTE. For most of the past decade Olimpija Ljubljana had played in the EBEL against Fehérvár.

The national teams are familiar with each other since the two countries play regular exhibition games the past few seasons. Earlier in the month the two teams played against each other as Hungary took the game in overtime by the score of 3-2.

Zoltán Szilassy, assistant coach: There is a lot of pressure on them as they started the tournament with two losses and now they will be facing stronger competition. It is important for us to pick up three points, andwe will be facing a team taht will be hungry to win. I hope we will be able to pick up an early goal in the game. We will need to be able to shut down their top players. We need to work hard from shift to shift and period to period. We know that they scouted our last game, which is normal. It is in our advantgae that we beat them in the exhibition game in Slovenia. We also need to be disciplened.
