With the offseason in full swing the national team players have started their off ice training session to build up the strength for the upcoming 2017-18 hockey season. This does not mean that the coaches and the club managers have any time off as they are hard at work putting together the rosters for the upcoming season.

Some members of the Hungarian national team that participated at the Division 1/A World Championships team have also found new homes in the offseason. There have been four players so far that have switched clubs this offseason. The oldest player on the team was forward János Vas who stayed in Hungary however he made a move from the EBEL to the MOL League. Just before the start of the World Championships he left Fehérvár AV19 for Diósgyőri VTK. “DVTK offered me what I was looking for and I also like the direction the club is moving in, both me and the team agreed on everything very quickly and I am happy to be a member of the MOL League.” said János Vas. He continued on to say “I would like to be a great example for the younger players and to help the team in any way I can. I am one of the older and more experienced players with the team and so the proper way to do things both on and off the ice.”

Fehérvár not only lost Vas during the offseason but also forward Andrew Sarauer who left the Fejér County club after four seasons. Sarauer will be playing the 2017-18 season with rival EBEL team Villach, the same team that defenceman Kevin Wehrs played for last season. Villach had announced that they will not be bring back Wehrs for the upcoming season however nothing else has been announced with regards to where the Hungarian D-man will end up. This is also true with Kalvin Sagert as well who will not be back in Fehérvár either.

The youngest forward on the roster has also switched clubs as Vilmos Galló is leaving SHL club Linköping after four season to sign with the Allsvenskan team Timra in an effort to gain more ice time and to develop his game. Timra will have a young team this upcoming season which will provide what a young forward might need in the long run. “I did not think that I would have the proper amount of ice time in Linköping that I would need to develop as a forward and to become a better allround player.”
