Hungary and Poland, Two familiar foes

2018.04.26. 14:42 |
Both Hungary and Poland have started the World Championships with one win and two losses in their first three games. This match is a must win game for both teams.

This will be the four time the two countries go up against each other, Hungary leads the season series 2-1. However if we look at the last three times the teams played each other un IIHF competition Poland won the 2017 World Championship game in Kiev Ukraine as well as the 2016 Olympic Qualifying match.  The last time Hungary beat Poland at an IIHF event was the World Championships in Krakow when Hungary won promotion to the A-Pool.

Jarmo Tolvanen and his coaching staff shuffled the lines again. The top line stayed the same however Bodó was moved from the 13th spot to the right wing of Galló and Vas. The third line is Sarauer centering Kóger and Sofron with the fourthline being very familiar to hockey fans Benk, Krisztián Nagy and Mogosi, who were linemates for almost half a decade are back together. Gergő Nagy is the 13th forward. On the backend the first two defensive pairings will stay the same, however Szirányi will be paired with Gőz and Garát will be the seventh defenceman. Ádám Vay will start in net and Miklós Rajna is the backup.

Zoltán Szilassy, assistant coach: Everyone can feel that it is a must win game, however this is not a tragedy as we have played three really good games. We had more chances but were unable to convert on them. It is hard to win a game when you only score once, SLovenia had the lucky bounces. There is not problems with the work moral of the players. Everyone is doing their best and our special teams have been working as well, We have score power play goals against both Slovenia and Italy. We need to shoot more and more on net. Overall I would say we are playing well and just need to keep on doing this. This group of teams is very balanced and still every team can still be relegated or still move up to the A-Pool. We only need to concentrate on our on team regardless of what is Poland putting out on the ice.
