Hungarian Inline Champions Rokko Compete in Prague

After winning the Hungarian title Rokko Skate entered the Prague Inline Hockey Cup in the Czech Republic this past weekend and finished in fourth place among the ten team field.

The tournament had four Czech teams, two from Germany, one each from Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and Canada. Rokko opened up the tournament up with a 4-1 win over Luftarji from Slovenia however they were shutout in the second game 4-0 by Chrudim from the Czech Republic.

The second day was a success as they won 8-2 against the team from Berlin, in the second game of the day the opponent was the host team JSMEInline who they beat by the score of 3-2.

In the first game of the knockout stage there was another close game Rokko defeated Team 300 from Slovakia 2-1.

On the closing day of the tournament, in the semifinals Rokko took on Brno and came up on the wrong side of the 5-2 score. In the bronze medal game the opponent for the Hungarian team was Chrudim who they lost to on the opening team. The Czech team took the game 4-1.

Hungarian forward Attila Rafaj was voted the best player in the tournament. “We had changed our tactics after the opening day and things started to click. This was the reason why we were able to go as far as we did. We had active hockey players on the roster as well as former players who are now just playing as amateurs, considering all of this we played to the best of our abilities.”
