After playing the first to games of the tournament defenseman István Mestyán and forwards Péter Vincze, Balázs Somogyi and Karol Csányi will not dress.

The game started off with a fast pace as both teams came out strong, however Hungary took some early penalties. They were down to men for 34 seconds but thanks to some early saves by Dávid Duschek then managed to get past these short handed situations in the first half of the opening period. The first real scoring chance for Hungary came from a shot by Krisztián Nagy from the left faceoff circle. Less than a minute later Denmark scored the first goal of the game after there was a scramble in front the Hungarian net. Just over a minute later Denmark went up 2-0 with goal from close range. Later in the period Csanád Erdély got Hungary on the scoreboard when he went bar down from the slot.

Denmark did not pick up their first penalty of the game until early in the second period. Despite not being able to score in the two minutes, Hungary did create chances, twice Vilmos Galló had chances off of rebounds from shots by Áron Reisz. Krisztián Nagy also had a chance but it went just wide. Hungary was caught with too many man on the ice but again thanks to Duschek Hungary killed the penalty. Martin Sági hit the post later in the period.

The third period started off with a couple of great saves by Duschek, however Denmark scored the next goal in the game  as Jacobsen sprang Spelling a shot that Duschek saved but Spelling put his own rebound in. Erdély had a chance to score his second of the game on a breakaway but his sailed over the goal. Late in the game Denmark capitalized on a two man advantage as the puck just crossed the goal line. Hungary pulled the goalie in the end and Denmark scored an empty netter.
