FTC, DAB and MAC all open up 2-0 leads in the first round of the playoffs

Both Ferencváros and Dunaújváros have opened up a surprising 2-0 lead against teams that finished ahead of them in the standings. MAC needed overtime to go up two games to zero.

DAB-UTE 4-2
Dávid Duschek started in net as UTE also went with their starting goalie from game one, in Ales Sila. Dunaújváros scored in the opening minutes when Tihamér Becze took a feed from the left wing and stuffed it home from just outside of the crease. The home team doubled the lead early in the second period when Péter Németh skated into the attacking end, sliced through the slot and fired one past Sila for the goal. Just over a minute later Justin Cseter set up Keegan Dansereau for the score to make it 3-0. Dunaújváros made it 4-0 when Zsolt Azari put pass from behind the net, to in front of Dansereau in the slot. Újpest got on the scoreboard on the two man advantage as András Benk put home a rebound off of a shot from Peter Huba. With minute to go and on the power play Nilan Nagy scored from just inside the blueline to make it 4-2. UTE pulled their goalie but were not able to get closer.

FTC-DVTK 3-1
For game two of the series Ferencváros went with Peter Sevela in net, Attila Adorján started for DVTK. Fradi took a 1-0 lead two minute in after he blocked a shot Carter Shinkaruk went coast to coast as he slipped the puck between the legs of Adorján. Later in the period Shinkaruk doubled the FTC lead after Viktor Kovács centered a pass that he taped in from outside of the crease. Attila Rajaf put Ferencváros up 3-0 as he stepped out of the penalty box at just the right time and skated in on a breakaway and scored. DVTK got on the scoreboard by scoring on a power play. Pete Sakaris skated in and took a shot from the blue line that made it through Sevela to make it 3-1. The game game remained scoreless for the rest of the second period and all of the third as Fradi picked up the win.

Fehérvár-MAC 2-3 (OT)
For game two Fehérvár went with Alex Scola in net and Adrien Lemay as the backup, Bence Bálizs was in goal for MAC. Feh;rv’r scored on their first powerplay of the game when Patrik Kiss scored from the right faceoff circle after Preston Shupe won the faceoff. MAC tied it up when Dezső Rozanov redirected a shot from Roland Vokla to tie the game up at 1-1. Soon after Fehérvár took back the lead on an awkward bounce as Szilárd Hamvai through the puck on net from the corner that some out ended up behind Bálizs. Late in the second period MAC tied the game up at 2-2 when Bronson Kovács took a pass from Gergő Nagy and scored from the left faceoff circle. The game remained tied at 2-2, through the end of regulation. In overtime Tamás Pozsgai put a rebound in for the game winner.
