Final Roster set for the World Championships

The final traveling roster for the Division 1/A World Championships has been announced with three players making their first ever senior World Championship roster.

Head Coach Rich Chernomaz announced the final traveling roster for the upcoming World Championships at a press conference today. The roster is made up of 13 forwards, 7 defencmen and 2 goalies with an emergency goalie traveling with the team as well. Making their World Championship debut will be István Terbócs, Keegan Dansereau and Karol Csányi. After the Slovenia game yesterday the coaching staff decided to send home defencemen Dánile Kiss, Tamás Pozsgai and Bronson Kovács along with forwards Áron Reisz, Chris Bodó and Brance Orbán, with Balázs Sebők not making the team because he is still active in the playoffs in Finland. Zoltán Hetényi was picked as the emergency, however he declined the invitation, as did Dávid Duschek, because of this Gergely Arany will be the emergency goalie but will only be used if Miklós Rajna or Bence Bálizs are injured.

Bence Szirányi, Kevin Wehrs, Kalvin Sagert, Zsombor Garát and Bence Stipsicz return from last years A-Pool defensive unit with Balázs Gőz and Arnold Varga rounding out the 7 blueliners. Vargar had been sent down to the U25 roster during camp, after a satisfactory performance in the two matches he was called back up and in the end made the final roster for the senior team.

The forward unit will have two Sapporo Heros in János Vas and András Benk along with veterans Bálint Magosi and Dániel Kóger. Also making it from last year’s team is Krisztián Nagy, István Bartalis, Andrew Sarauer, Csanád Erdély and Vilmos Galló. János Hári was forced to miss the World Championships last season because of an injury but is back this season.

This roster is starting to reflect the work that has been done in national youth development program as the players born in 1996 were the first ones to go through it. There are a total of 6 players born in 1996 or 1997 making the trip to Kiev.
