DVTK takes Game 1 in Overtime against MAC

The opening game of the 2017 MOL League playoffs had everything as MAC came back from two goals down to for overtime, in which Andrew Johnston found the game winner.

Diósgyőr had semi-finals MVP Attila Adorján starting in net. MAC countered with the MOL League goalie of the year, Kristóf Schmál was back from injury and Drew Olson back from suspension. The first goal was not scored until late in the first period when Andrew Johnston made it 1-0 for DVTK with a flick of a wrist from the slot. Less than a minute later Gergő Nagy moved the puck back up to the blue line where Roland Vokla put a shot on net that Adorján did not see. Just like in the first period DVTK took a one goal lead late in the second period when Attila Pavuk stripped Bronson Kovács in front of the MAC net and flipped it past the goalie. In the final minute of the period DVTK went up 3-1 when a Nikandrosz Galanisz back door pass went off of Bálizs and into the back of the net. With only seconds to go MAC got one back when Bronson Kovács sent a frozen rope down to Vladimir Nikiforov, who was wide open in front of the DVTK set for the tap in. Early in the period Grant Toulmin scored from low in the slot to put DVTK up by two goals. In the final minutes of the game, Jon Booras scored off of a one timer to make it a one goal game. In the final seconds Sean Escobedo scored from the blue line to send the game into overtime. In the extra session Johnston took a pass from the corner and flipped it past Bálizs for the game winner.
