DVTK advances to second round

The three time champions DVTK Jegesmedvék easily disposed of the Fehérvári Titánok in a four game sweep in the first round of the ERSTE Liga playoffs.

For the opening game of the series Dániel Kornakker started in net for Fehérvár with DVTK countering with Attila Adorján. Rasmus Kulmala opened up the scoring for DVTK with an even strength goals. The score remained the same until the third period when László Ritó scored a one timer to make it 2-0. Colin Joe put Miskolc up 3-0 on a power play goal, with 10 seconds left in the game Attila Pavuk scored the fourth and final goal of the game.

Miskolc opened up the scoring fast and early as Pavuk and Ritó each scored in the opening minutes of the game to make it 2-0. The home team pulled away with a Vojtkó goal and short handed goal by Roland Hajós. Fehérvár called a timeout and made a change in net as  Dávid Gyenes came in for Kornakker. Márk Miskolczi made it 5-0 before the end of the first period. With the game already in the bag, Pete Sakaris scored once in the second and Kulmala in the third. Balázs Varga scored late in the game as Adorján was unable to hold on to the shutout in the game.

For the third game Kornakker was back between the pipes for Fehérvár. Márk Szaller scored first to give the Titánok a 1-0 lead. Attila Pavuk tied the game up later in the period, with Adrián Tóth scored twice late in in the period as DVTK took a 3-1 lead into the second period. Fehérvár got back within one on a power play goal by Ferenc Kocsis. Pavuk scored a power play goal later in the period to put DVTK back up by two. Bálint Magosi and Colin Joe scored later in the period to put the visitors back up 6-2. In the third period Fehérvár scored twice to make it a two goal game as Derek Schoenmakers and Balázs Varga scored within a minute of each other. Late in the match Fehérvár called timeout and pulled their goalie for the extra attacker but DVTK scored on the empty net to take the game 7-4.

In the fourth game with DVTK one win away from the second round Fehérvár went with Gyenes in net. The only goal in the first period came off of the stick of Rasmus Kulmala as DVTK had a 1-0 lead after the first period. A Magosi goal made it 2-0 on the power play with Adrián Tóth scoring in the final minute of the middle period to make it 3-0. DVTK closed out the series in the third period with three goals as Kulmala and Miskolczi scored even strength goals and Tóth capped it off with a power play goal.
