The Disciplinary Committee investigated the MOL League game MOL 254 (MAC Budapest – Debreceni HK) where Norbert HARI, player of Debreceni HK was being penalized 5+20 minutes (SPEAR). The Disciplinary Committee made the following conclusions:
According to the referee’s log, the player of Debreceni HK stabbed the opponent player with his stick in the 57th minutes of the match. The case of the match video does not seem clearly.

IIHF RULE 161 – SPEARING
DEFINITION: A player who stabs an opponent or attempts to stab an opponent with the end of the stick blade, whether or not the stick is being carried with one or both hands. Contact to the opponent is not necessary for the penalty to be assessed. A player who attempts to spear an opponent will be assessed a double minor and misconduct penalty. A player who spears an opponent will be assessed a major penalty and automatic game-misconduct penalty or match penalty.

The Disciplinary Commitee approve the referee’s judgement, and do not use other sanctions.

During the playoffs, this was the second Game Misconduct (GA-MI) penalty for the Debreceni HK player.

IIHF rule book RULE 109 - DURATION OF PENALTIES - GAME MISCONDUCT
A player who receives two game-misconduct penalties in the same game or different games of a tournament or event is automatically suspended for one further game.

Norbert HARI will skip the next match of his team. The player will spend down his sentence at the next MOL League match.
