Debreceni HK has announced that they will not be participating in the MOL League during the 2017-18 season, the league and the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation is looking for a solution.

The federation is investigating the situation in an effort to keep the MOL League at 10 teams for the 2017-18 season.

Friday afternoon Debreceni Hoki Klub released the following statement on the club website.
“Debreceni Hoki Klub would like to announce to the hockey loving community that the club will not be participating in the MOL League during the 2017-18 season.
DHK has participated for three seasons in the league which was the minimum requirement when the club gained admittance to the league. The main financial sponsor during this time period was the local government.
Because of the current unstable financial situation surrounding the club and the lack of sponsors, the club management has decided not to send in the application for the 2017-18 season which will be due on June 15th.
Once a sponsor is secured the club would like to participate in the MOL League once again.
We thank the city of Debrecen and our supporters from the bottom of our hearts.”
