Brasov wins series against UTE

Brasov upset UTE in six games with three of the games being decided in overtime.

UTE had Ales Sila in net with Patrik Polc starting between the pipes for Brasov. Mátyás Bíró scored first in the opening minutes to put Brasov up 1-0. Later in the period Erik Caládi tied the game up at 1-1. The only goal of the second period was scored by Braden Walls, in the third period Brasov pulled away with a two goal lead with Zsolt Péter finding the back of the net. In the ned Walls scored an empty net goal as Brasov took the opening game 4-1.

András Benk scored first for UTE to make it 1-0 after the first period. The score remained the same up until the 56th minute of the game when Walls scored to tie the game up at 1-1. The game went into overtime when Anze Ropret scored in the 66th minute as UTE tied the series up at 1-1.

As the series switched to Brasov, Árpád Mihály gave the home team the 1-0 lead. In the early minutes of the second period Maksims Sirokovs made it 2-0. Ropret the cut the UTE deficit to one goal however minutes later Roberto Gliga scored a power play goal to put Brasov back on top by two goals. In the third period Martin Frolik made it 3-2 with a power play goal and with less than five minutes left Csaba Kovács scored to make it 3-3 to send the game into overtime. The game was not settled until the second overtime period when Ladislav Sikorcin scored as UTE picked up the win. This also set the record for the longest game in ERSTE Liga history, as they played an 86 minute game.

For the fourth game of the series Brasov switched goals as Tőke started in the place of Polc. UTE jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Caladi scored on the first shift of the game. MacMillan tied the game up at 1-1 with Zsombor Molnár flipping the score for the home team. Ottó Bíró gave Brasov a two goal lead but Benk pulled UTE back within one. In the final minute of the second period Gliga scored on a two man advantage to make it 4-2. Dániel Tranca put Brasov back on top by three goals. In the closing minutes Ropret scored, to make it 5-3.

The two teams exchanged goals in the first period as Walls made it 1-0 with Csaba Kovács tying it up later in the opening period. András Benk put UTE back on top in the opening minutes of the second period, with Caládi making it 3-1. Brasov got thing together later in the second period as Mátyás Bíró cut it to a one goal game. In the third period Kirill Knyazev scored a power play goal to pull the game even at 3-3. The score remained the same until the end of regulation and the game went into overtime. In the extra session Sirokovs scored the game winner.

For game six Brasov switched back to Polc in the net. Martin Saluga scored for Brasov 69 seconds into the game, butu minutes later Csaba Kovács tied the game up at 1-1. Ropret scored a power play goal to put the home team back on top, but before the period was out Brasov had scored two power play goals by Walls as Brasov took a 3-2 lead into the first intermission. After a scoreless second period Knyazev made it 4-2 as Brasov closed out the game and the series with a win.
