Brasov has a new head coach incharge of the team this season, he will be a familiar face to the fans as Kjell G. Lindqvist is back for his second stint with the team. Assisting him in his work will be Marius Trandafir who was the head coach of Galati last season.
The goaltending situation for Brasov looks to be stable as been the past few since with the duro of Patrik Polc and Zoltán Tőke being on of the top goalie tandems in the league past season. With two excellent goalies Lindqvist will not have to worry about overusing either one of them during the season.
Brasov has depth on the defensive unit, Cody Carlson and Craig Cescon are two imports that the team will rely on to have a big season both on the defensive and offensive ends of the ice. Carlson and Cescon spent last season in the EIHL. After spending last season in the ECHL Garrett Clarke is back in Brasov, the hard nosed player can also be used as a forward if needed. Clarke is not the only player that can play defenseman and forward, Ede Mihály and Ottó Biró have moved back to the blueline in recent years. The veteran István Nagy will be the leader of this group, with Pavlo Borysenko being a nice addition from Gyergyó. Despite his young age Huba Bors has not only become a stable presence for Brasov but also for the Romanian national team.
Brasov up front has a nice mix a import players that can score, up and coming young players who had big seasons last year and should be around a point per game this season, and veteran players who have been known as scorers in the past but will not have the pressure on them to carry the team. One of the first players that Brasov brought in was Jereme Tendler, who was coached by Lindqvist the past three seasons in Ferencváros. He hopes to bounce back after last season. The former Danish national team player, Henrik Nielsen will be spending his first season outside of Denmark this year. Mikael Lidhammer the former SHL forward should be one of the top scorers in the team. Roberto Gliga had a great season last year, if he can improve on last seasons’ production that would be tremendous help for Brasov. Daniel Tranca, the Biró twins, Gergő and Mátyás, along with Zoltán and Zsombor Molnár are a group of forwards that can be counted on to score between 15 to 20 points during the regular season. Balázs-Szabolcs Péter came from Fehérvár, the young forward hopes that a change in scenery will help him. Levente Zsók and Árpád Mihály are two veteran players that might be past their prime, however they still have great vision on the ice and can help any young player that they are playing with.
Kjell G. Lindqvist, Head coach: One of our strengths on the team is that we have a lot of experienced hockey players. We have players that have played in a lot of leagues throughout Europe and have played a lot of games. Another strength is that we have some good personalities on the team, we have some real grinders. We have a good mix of players and this is our strength. It is too early in the season to see where we can finish, we first need to play everyone once to have a clearer picture. We want to be in the top half of the league after first 40 games, and after that anything can happen.
