After having one win in their opening three games, Hungary faced Poland in a must win game for both teams. In the end Hungary came out on top by the score of 3-2.

HUNGARY-Poland 3-2

Head coach Jarmo Tolvanen and his coaching staff shuffled the lines again, Ádám Vay is staying between the pipes with Miklós Rajna serving as the backup goalie. The first two defensive pairings stayed the same, however Bence Szirányi was paired with Balázs Gőz and Zsombor Garát was the seventh defenceman. The first line stayed the same, the second line was Vas centering Galló and Bodó, the third line was Kóger, Sarauer and Gergő Nagy. For the first time this season Benk, Krisztián Nagy and Magosi were back together again after playing almost half a decade together. Missing from the lineup because of an injury was István Sofron.

For the opening faceoff Hungary had Tamás Pozsgai, Bence Stipsicz, Balázs Sebők, János Hári and Csanád Erdély on the ice. Hungary had an early penalty and capitalized on it as Balázs Sebők lifted in a round over the Polish goalie for the goal. On their second power play of the game the only real chance that Hungary had was a long shot from Pozsgai. At the midway point of the period the Polish goalie was unable to control the rebound and András Benk bounced the puck off the goalie from behind the net for the two goal lead. Later in the period Erdély had a shot from the slot that Odrobny blocked.

In the opening minutes of the second period Poland had Hungary pinned into their own end. Hungary finally broke out with a nice 2 on 1 with Hári setting up Sebők for the shot that Odrobny saved. Poland got one back when Vay was unable to control the rebound and Komorski put the loose puck in behind Vay. Neither team was able to build an attack until Chmielewski sliced through the slot and snapped it past Vay to make it 2-2.

After taking the opening faceoff in the third period JÁnos Hári took a shot from the right faceoff dot, the puck made it through traffic and into the back of the net for the 3-2 lead. In the third period Hungary had a chance to open up a two goal lead on the power play but were unable to score. As the period went on Hungary started to play more of a defensive game in an effort to protect the lead. In the closing minute Poland pulled their goalie for the extra attacker but where unable to tie the game up. With the win over Poland, Hungary has six points and is still in contention to move make to the A-Pool.
